Esdraelon Lodge #176 was constituted on April 8, 1879 and chartered on May 14, 1879. The first meeting was held on April 8, 1879, under a dispensation granted by Brother John M. Carter, Most Worshipful Master of Masons in Maryland. Esdraelon's first records report Napoleon B. Bryant as Master, William A. Mackinson as Senior Warden, Jesse T. Crawford as Junior Warden, Hugh C. Whiteford as Tyler, Ephriam Arnold as Secretary, Humphrey R. Lloyd as Treasurer, Wilson Z. Macomber as Senior Steward, Hugh E. Hughes as Junior Steward, and Jeffer W. Stanley as Chaplain. Charter Members also attending the first regular communication, held on June 12, AL 5879, included Lewis H. Milner, Archibald Wilson, A. C. McCurdy, and John A. Swagert.
Esdraelon Lodge has enjoyed a rich history and continues to be an active part of northern Harford County. The members have met in the same Lodge Hall, located in Cardiff, Maryland, since 1904. The furniture, which is still in use every meeting, was originally purchased in 1891. Esdraelon has been able to maintain its small county Lodge atmosphere and is the home of many proud members. Several have deep roots with the Lodge extending back to the Founding Brethren.
